EDITORIAL
As we go to press many uncertainties remain. Uncertainties about the start of the new school year and the possible reinforcing of social distancing measures, as well as questions about the evolution of the coronavirus. In any case, the global extent of this “phenomenon” has clearly demonstrated the capacity of this virus to disrupt many aspects of our lives and perhaps even our civilisation.
The impact of the pandemic on the world of watercolour has certainly been important, as it has been in just about every other area of life, with the cancellation of exhibitions and workshops that has resulted in a significant loss of income for artists, whose financial situation was already fragile. But this context has also allowed painters to implement new strategies and to reinvent themselves with, for example, live demonstrations on social networks and live classes that have helped – like other similar initiatives during lockdown – to preserve a sense of sociability and togetherness.
One of the direct consequences for ‘The Art of Watercolour’ and a very large portion of the press in general has been the disruption of distribution networks. It is quite possible that The Art of Watercolour may no longer be available in newsstands around the world and so, if you want to be sure to receive every single issue of your magazine and not miss a single one, we can only encourage you to subscribe!
