Some say that a painting only exists if it is looked at. In other words, the ‘raison d’être’ of a work of art resides in its relationship with the viewer. The same is true of a magazine: it only exists because it is read, its sole purpose being the exchange created with its readers. And it really is a two-way relationship. We present artists from around the globe, artists that are both exemplary in their use of watercolour and at the same time individual in what they have to say and their way of saying it, but that it is only one aspect, for the other essential ingredient is you, our readers. As the finest watercolour magazine in the world, we strive to provide you with accurate and up-to-date information on what is going on in the global watercolour community and we are constantly trying to improve our magazine. That is why your input is valued and your opinion highly esteemed. Why not drop us a line or two about the magazine: firstname.lastname@example.org. What do you think of the artists shown in each issue? Who would you like to see featured in our next issues? Are there any important events we should know about? The editorial staff of ‘The Art of Watercolour’ are as passionate about the medium and its proponents as you are yourselves. We try to keep in touch with the events that shape the world of watercolour, but it may happen that we are simply unaware of an event. In the words of Oscar Wilde, we may know more than we think we know, but we know less than we would like to…
Enjoy this issue and have a great spring!
